FAQ / Essay's
What is F3V Steel? = We sometimes refer to our steel as "F3V". F3V is the combination of CPM-3V and our own "involved" heat treat and manufacturing processes. We pre-treat, manufacture the knife, post-treat, heat treat, then begin a multi-day tempering process. Our own heat treat method combined with a machining strategy that reduces manufacturing "stresses", as well as procedures that do not raise the blade's temperature above room temperature during manufacturing are all *part* of the recipe that makes up F3V!
What are your sheaths like? = Our sheaths are simple, functional, and tough. We offer two styles of sheaths. Leather: Our leather sheaths are heavy duty thick leather, with extra tough stitching. They are treated and dyed black. The Peace Maker sheath is a pouch type sheath and the knife is retained by the welt. The sheaths for the Survival and Tactical these Series Knives are laminated leather construction and lined with kydex. The knife is retained by a strap with snap and each sheath offers several side "loops" to use for multiple lashing/tie-down options. Kydex: Our kydex sheaths are the finest in the industry. Each kydex sheath is form fit to the knife to ensure excellent retention. They offer multiple eyelet's for lashing/tie-down options as well as making for sturdy construction. Each sheath features a Tek-Lok clip. Click here to see a picture.
What is the difference in your "Coated" and "Satin" Blades? = Our "Satin" finish is essentially a "bare metal" finish. It is hand finished with 400 grit paper to give it a bright, good looking finish. The satin finish looks good but it MUST be oiled regularly to prevent rust. The "Coated" finish is a black powder crinkle finish. The coated blade offers more corrosion resistance and less light reflection if you have "tactical" concerns.
Did you charge my credit card twice? = Often people check their online credit card statment and think that we have charged them twice for their knife. To be clear, we only charge a credit card within 1 day of shipping it. What happens is that when an order is placed a credit card is "pinged" to see if the funds are available. If they are then the sale is "authorized" but not officially "charged". This authroization will show up on your online statment but will then disappear after 48 hours. Within a day of shipping your order we actually charge or "settle" your credit card order.
I placed my order and then received 3 confirmation emails, what gives? = Our system sends out several emails to confirm the order along the way and keep you informed. Sometimes these emails can be confusing. When an order is placed on our online store you are emailed an immediate confirmation. If your order is changed in any way... for example if you call and add or remove an item from your order or if you require special shipping arrangments... basically if the orders total cost is changed in any way you will be sent an email that informs you of the change... finally, when your order actually ships and your credit card is charged or "settled" then you will be emailed a final confirmation
